Leadership Development

Organizations need clear, authentic, visionary leaders in order to create the performance, future, and fulfillment that everyone desires. Management skills alone do not suffice. Leadership is crucial. Leaders everywhere face greater challenges than ever before. Business leaders must address many growing human issues like:

• Employees who expect work to be meaningful. They want more than just a salary.

• People who are asking themselves, "Is this all there is?" They are neither happy, nor fulfilled, even when they have reached the supposed pinnacle of their careers.

• Traditional organizational structures which are not working well any more. The more fluid team based structures which operate effectively in the current environment require more leadership than management. This presents a challenge to traditional managers.

The challenges and possibilities of the 21st century impel us to look at leadership in a new light.  Historically, we have focused on becoming a true leader by developing an intellectual understanding of it.  Similarly, we have limited the power and meaning of leadership by assuming that you can only be a leader if you have formal followers. We have focused on intellect, but not intuition; knowledge, but not wisdom; and often, have created an expectation that a leader is supposed to have all the answers. 

Formal education and intellectual understanding do not teach us how to incorporate all aspects of ourselves - mind, body, heart, and spirit - into living leadership so that we can be most helpful to our countries, communities, organizations, families, friends and selves. By incorporating all aspects of ourselves we are able to be of greater service and we become truly fulfilled human beings.
